I purchased a membership for my Wife and myself about 3 months ago, after building my own gym at home and finding out that my wife is pregnant, I decided to cancel our memberships, I walked into Fitness 19 to cancel and some young kid at the counter stated that the system was down and that he could not cancel at this time that I would have to return at a later date, after telling him that I needed to cancel at that moment, he gave me a very bad attitude wrote down my information for the cancellation & stated that It was done and no additional charges would take place since I had been automatically charged the previous day. The following month I received a charge on my account for both memberships after I was clearly told that I would not be charged any longer, I went back to the fitness center (was not greeted for about 10 min) finally a young lady by the name of Kristen approached me to see what she could help me with? I told her to verify my membership cancellation, she told me "just wait", walked into some back office 15 minutes later she returns to tell me that she does not have the authorization to cancel and that someone else has to do it, I asked if she could get someone that can, she said "wait"! Some guy by the name of Al Garcia comes up to me and tells me that the system is down and that I cannot cancel right away and to come back later... I told him that I would not leave and to cancel my membership immediately, (with an attitude) he walks away begins speaking to some new member (signs them up) returns with some yellow slip (10 minutes later) and tells me that its been cancelled. I'm a customer service trainer for a major U.S company and this is one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had... I will make sure to use every possible resource available to share this horrible experience to the public and most importantly to the City of Riverside. The employee: Al Garcia is a horrible asset to any organization.
